Pro-slaughter lobbyists are pushing bills and resolutions thru state legislatures that call for the defeat of the Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act, H.R. 503/S.B. 727, the federal bill that would shut down slaughter of American horses. They are also pushing bills calculated to convince Americans that horse slaughter is humane or a solution for "abandoned" horses.
Nothing could be further from the truth.

Analogy of Pro Slaughter Propaganda
The "Unwanted Horse Theory", the term "Excess Horses", and the term "Humane Processing" are all used by pro slaughter proponents in their aggressive and deceptive campaigns promoting horse slaughter. The bottom line is that horse slaughter is driven by the market for horsemeat.
A lie remains a lie even when you try to cover it up.. just like in this grocery store analogy... Bleach can alter the fishy smell & taste when fish goes bad, but it doesn't improve the quality of the fish; instead you end up with camouflaged bad fish with a higher concentration of chemical toxins.
Those who support horse slaughter are promoting a lie, and one of the most barbaric violations of criminal animal cruelty.
